A new museum will be opened in 2014, which aim will be to popularize the world famous novels of István Fekete, namely the Thorn Castle (Tüskevár) and Winter Grove (Téli Berek). The Museum will be called “Matula Museum”; in Hungarian the term for it will be “Matulárium”, where even the name can suggest a cultural speciality. (the name Matula refers to one of the main characters in the novel, Thorn Castle.)
The exhibition will first represent the life of the writer and the secrets of film making, after those two sections can we enter into a Wax-works, where the world of Little Balaton will be shown with the help of diorama technology in a genuine way. One of the summer nights of the Grove will be evoked with the characters of the novel. The scene is the small fishermen’s cottages with a thatched cottage, where the fish dish with paprika is prepared by Uncle Matula, Bütyök and Tutajos are also present.
Uncle István (Ferenc Zenthe) has been formed by Tibor Túri Török sculptor
in a lifelike way and we can also see Csikasz and Bikfic around the stew-pot eager for a fine dish. The visitor can feel that he/she is also part of the novel with the help of this joyful scenery.
As we look at the magic of the setting sun, the fire burning under the stew-spot we can almost feel the smell of the delicious fish dish and the enchantment of the Grove.
The Thorn Castle Wax-works will be opened at the beginning of the year in the pedestrian zone of Keszthely. In the exhibition the characters of the novel and the enchanting Great Grove will come to life.
